The Cato Institute released their Fiscal Policy Report Card on America's Governors: 2006. According to the Cato Institute web site, "Governors who have cut taxes and spending the most receive the highest grades. Those who have increased spending and taxes the most receive the lowest grades."Only one governor received an "A" rating - Governor Matt Blount from Missouri. Nine governors, including Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, scored an "F".
This is something I have been saying for a long time. Mike Huckabee is a great guy. I believe he is honest and sincere. But he is far too liberal when it comes to taxing the people of Arkansas and spending it.
If we elect Mike Beebe, the Huckabee tradition of overtaxation and overspending will get worse. And don't hold your breath waiting for the grocery tax to fade away.
