Obama's Not a Muslim; He's An Atheist. Says Ann Coulter

Not a bad assessment. It might explain a lot about Obama's seeming demonstrations of antipathy toward Christians and their religious symbolism. Remember Obama's decision to be a prayer day no-show at the National Day of Prayer last year? The Washington Times wrote that Obama distanced himself from the National Day of Prayer by nixing a formal early morning service and not attending a large Catholic prayer breakfast the next morning.

Obama did sign a proclamation honoring the day, but deigned not to grace either event with his presence. Not to worry said White House flack Robert Gibbs, the president is simply reverting back to pre-Bush administration practice. I guess they wanted to blame that on Bush too.

And then there was the time when, Georgetown University Hid Religious Symbols at White House Request. It seemed that the president's White House staff asked the Catholic University to cover up all "religious symbols" during Obama's speech at Gaston Hall last year. The offending symbol which Georgetown University administrators happily covered up for Barak, while our "man of faith" as Marc Lamont Hill describes him, addressed an enraptured audience on his "economic recovery plan," was the Latin inscription for the name of Jesus Christ.

NY Post: Ahmadinejad meets with Farrakhan and New Black Panther Party during NYC Trip

When not bashing the U.S. and its support of the "evil Zionist entity" at the U.N. last week, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad took time to meet with Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan and members of the New Black Panther Party Tuesday at Gotham's Warwick Hotel on West 54th Street says the NY Post and My Fox Houston.

The Post reports; Paranoia was on parade at the Hilton the moment the president checked in on Saturday, Sept. 18. His team took six floors to themselves in the hotel's south tower, overlooking Tudor City, about 90 rooms in all. More than 20 were just for security. Still, Ahmadinejad, who wore the same tacky suit and shirt all week, took every precaution.

He never set foot in the lobby. Bulletproof glass was installed over room windows. When he left for meetings at the Iranian Mission, on Third Avenue, or the United Nations, he departed by an employee entrance, the path covered in a white tent -- a veritable tunnel to his vehicle. His head was covered with a white cloth. No one saw him on the street. The entourage dined in but not on room service. Meals -- mostly lamb, shish kebabs, spiced ground meat and basmati rice -- were prepared by a Persian restaurant and carried in by Secret Service agents. A source said the spicy grub made "the whole hotel stink like hell."

I wonder if they had some of that stinky Ahmadinejad-approved chow on hand for his sit down with Farrakhan and New Black Panther Party?

2006 Jacques Puffeney ARBOIS Pinot Noir (France)

Grown in a backwater region midway between Burgundy and the Swiss border, this wine makes you imagine a mountain stream flowing with Pinot Noir. Distinctive and very good.

Light ruby color with some amber at the rim. Lively, interesting nose of stony, cool minerals, crisp cherries and cherry pits, and high-toned, sweet smoke. In the mouth, it's vibrant, lively, and penetrating, with piercing cherry fruit, hints of old wine barrels, and lots of stony minerals. Still some soft tannin in the crisp, lean, but lengthy finish. 89. Will hold nicely for another year. Was $33 at Spec's on Smith (not cheap, but worth it). Imported by Neal Rosenthal.

2007 "La Huella de Adaras" ALMANSA (Spain)

This was a truly unique wine. It was kind of like an Australian rugby player who takes ballet lessons. Not for the faint of heart. Made from the Alicante Bouschet grape, which locally is known as the Garnacha Tintorea, even though it's not related to Grenache at all.

Saturated black ruby with a little lightening at the rim. Animated, animal nose, with beefy, woodsy, baker's chocolatey scents, along with tangy, rich blackberry fruit. Full, aggressive flavors of rich, ripe dark berries, along with drying baker's chocolate again, and lots of crushed stones underneath. Tangy acidity presents a startling counterpoint to the big flavors, and there's a lingering , pleasant bitterness in the finish. Loads of character here. 89. Was $14.99 at Houston Wine Merchant. Imported by Eric Solomon.

2009 Chateau Mourgues du Grés "Les Galets Rosés" COSTIÈRES DE NÎMES ROSÉ (Rhone Valley, France)

A very fruity, lively, and balanced dry rosé made from Syrah and Grenache.

Light, bright, youthful pink color. Intensely fruity nose of fresh peach and watermelon, with the barest whiff of stony minerals. Great purity. Soft, round, and mouthfilling, yet with a light feel. Lots of pure fruit flavors and a clean, dry finish. Not a crisp rosé, but not flabby either. 88. Good value at $13 and change at Spec's on Smith. Drink over the next 6 months. Imported by Imported by Weygandt-Metzler.

Tea Party: The Brewing Movement

Despite the slings and arrows of the DNC/Obama media claiming that Tea Partiers are "racist", "bigots" etc. everyday Americans are standing up for their country and doing incredible things to put the nation back on the right track.

A common thread throughout the presentation and ominous news for the Liberal establishment in Washington and in State Houses around the nation is that the Tea Party is made up of people who had previously NOT been involved in politics before.

HT: Instapundit.

Bernie Goldberg's advice to desperate Dems trying to hold onto power by their fingernails;

For your own good, STOP!

Painting the tea party folks as extremist nut-jobs is a big mistake. Tying tea partiers to the Republicans will not hurt the GOP. It will help them and hurt you!

More bad news for Obama and the Dems; PJTV polls show 1/3 of likely African-American voters are either strongly support or tend toward support of Tea Party candidates. So much for the dinosaur media generated myth that Tea Partiers are a bunch of angry white racists.

Tenderness

A great little tune, from a great little movie. Try a Little Tenderness, by The Commitments, from the movie of the same name, 1991.

Andrew Breitbart Disperses Angry Mob of Astroturf Protestors

"Astroturfing" as defined in the Urban Dictionary refers to the act of creating a small organization and making it appear to represent something popular. Astroturfing involves organizing a rent-a-mob to hold placards and chant slogans in order to give the appearance of bonafide movement. Andrew Breitbart exposes the Union's and Obama's "Organizing for America" farce as well as the DNC's role in astroturfing "spontaneous protests" against Tea Parties, Conservatives, and prominent Conservative commentators.

Gateway Pundit shows the roles of the DNC and Obama's "Organizing for America" in coordinating this smoke and mirrors farce. Now I'm not trying to make too much of it, or say anything about his level of faith, but Breitbart's direct confrontation and scattering of the "protestors" kind of reminds me of Jesus scattering the hypocrites who were tormenting the woman they had conveniently "found in the very act of adultery".

2008 Obama Supporter: Hot Dogs and Beans,...is this my new reality?

This is rich. An Obama supporter from the 2008 election airs her summer of discontent on the man who ran on the platform of "Hope and Change".

I'm one of your middle class Americans, and frankly, I'm exhausted.
I'm exhausted of defending you. Defending your administration, defending the
mantle of change that I voted for and deeply dissappointed with where we are
right now. I have been told, that I voted for a man, who said he was going to
change things in a meaningful way for the middle class. I'm one of those people
and I'm waiting sir. I'm waiting, and I don't feel it yet.
And I thought
while I don't feel it in a great measure, that I would feel it in some small
measure. I have two children in private school, and the recession has taken
an enormous toll on our family.
My husband and I joked for years that we
thought we were well beyond the hot dogs and beans era of our lives. But quite
frankly it's starting to knock on our door and ring true that that might be
where we are headed again. And quite frankly Mr. President, I need you to
answer us honestly, is this my new reality
?

Video Shows Wellesley, MA 6th Graders Bowing to Allah on Public School Field Trip

Nothing to see here folks. It's just your average, everyday, non-muslim 6th graders from a Wellesley, Massachusetts public school, encouraged to offer up prayers to Allah while on a Social Studies field trip. The videographer comments that none of the chaperones or teachers accompanying students on the field trip voiced a single objection. Not so much as one peep came out of the sheeple about the "separation of Church and State", much less, separation of Mosque and State during this gathering. Can you imagine the howls of protest that would have greeted the ears of organizers had students visited the local Baptist, Presbyterian or Charismatic Christian church and participated in one of their worship services? This proves once again that in the minds of liberals, all Faiths are equal; but some Faiths are more equal than others.

Americans for Peace and Tolerance posts an article about the trip on Big Peace.

2008 Domaine La Bastide "les Genets" SYRAH "Vieilles Vignes" (VDP, Languedoc,Southern France)

This Syrah -- from a dry, hot region in the south of France, and unoaked, I think -- is an excellent value. I would put this up against Crozes-Hermitages and oaky U.S. Syrahs costing 2-3 times as much.

Gorgeously dark ruby with violet highlights. Deeply fruity nose of rich cassis and blackberry along with smoky, gravelly scents. Concentrated and tight, with good weight in the mouth yet with a relatively soft texture. Tightly-wound core of deep-toned dark berry fruit with a long, mineral/schist-infused finish. Soft enough to enjoy now, yet its balance, concentration, and loads of soft tannin will insure that it will keep for a couple of years. 88. Only $11 at Spec's on Smith. Imported by Weygandt-Metzler.

2009 Guerrieri-Rizzardi BARDOLINO CHIARETTO CLASSICO (Rosé) (Veneto, Italy)

A relatively rare rosé from Italy. And a very good one!

Light, bright pink color with a canteloupe tinge. Direct, fresh, fruity nose: lots of strawberry and tropical fruit; slight hint of earth. Round, richly-fruited, but with medium-light weight in the mouth. Very soft texture, pure fruit, and a fresh, dry, slightly minerally long finish. Very elegant and nicely-done. 89. Imported by Enotec Imports and was $16.99 at Houston Wine Merchant.

Sarah Palin: GOP Insiders Don't want Christine O'Donnel to Win

Nothing like the old guard GOP country-clubbers and cocktail party set to show their real colors when an actual conservative wins an election. The old guard GOP generates plenty of chatter about liberal Democrats, and can recite nostrums verbatim on the virtues of small government while on the talk show circuit, or writing op-eds for the New York Times and Washington post. But let an actual conservative win a primary or election and the talking heads begin wagging while offering up phrases like, "unelectable", "too extreme", "outside the mainstream" and "I'm concerned". Actually, the old guard likes things just the way they are. They percieve candidates like Christine O'Donnel, Nicki Hailey and Sara Palin as threats to their power who are don't deserve to share the stage with them.

Here's Sarah Palin on Bill O'Reilly's show taking on TokyoRove.

Obama Proclaims 9/11 as Day of Service and Remembrance

In earlier remarks made today while commemorating 9/11 at the Pentagon, the President proclaimed 9/11 as a National Day of Service and Remembrance for all Americans.

"That is why we mark September 11th as a National Day of Service and Remembrance. For if there is a lesson to be drawn on this anniversary, it is this: we are one nation – one people – bound not only by grief, but by a set of common ideals. And that by giving back to our communities, by serving people in need, we reaffirm our ideals – in defiance of those who would do us grave harm. We prove that the sense of responsibility that we felt for one another was not a fleeting passion – but a lasting virtue."

9/11 Firemen Recall the Sound of Bodies Crashing Through Glass Roof of WTC Lobby

Fallen 911 Firefighter's Dad: Obama Spoke to Us Like We're Racists and Bigots

More unity from the post-partisan, post-racial, post-911 president. Obama graces the families of those who died on 9/11 and opponents of the Ground Zero Mosque with some his "lightworker" magic. Jim Riches, a former deputy with the NYFD and father of a firefighter who perished in the Twin Towers said, "I am very upset, you know. I think Obama was lecturing to us yesterday, talking down to us like, you know, like everybody is a radical and a racist and a bigot."

In Rememberance - World Trade Towers 1966 - 2001

What began as a monument to American enterprise and ingenuity was taken down in less than an hour by 19 Islamic terrorits on the morning of September 9, 2001. May all of the innocents and brave people who perished as they confronted the very incarnation of evil on that day rest in peace.

2006 Umani Ronchi ROSSO CONERO "San Lorenzo" (Marche, Italy)

A classically-proportioned example of the quintessential red from my ancestors' region of Italy (Le Marche -- which is mid-way up the boot on the Adriatic coast). Made from 100% Montepulciano grapes.

Very black-toned ruby. Smoky gravel scents over minerally blackberry extract. Dark, brooding flavors of fragrant charcoal embers and very low-toned dark cherry. Gives the impression of a rustic, country wine that has learned how carry itself elegantly. Good acidity and tannin for structure. Long, smoky finish. Was a great accompaniment to pork ribs braised in wine and tomatoes with garlic and rosemary (a classic Marchigiano style braise). 88. Was $17 at Spec's on Smith. Imported by Bedford International.

Patriot Day 2010 - We Shall Never Forget 9/11

May God keep us in peace as we remember this day.

2009 Domaine du Tariquet SAUVIGNON (BLANC) (VDP Cotes de Gascogne, France)

A fleshy, fruity, grassy Sauvignon. Not elegant, but doesn't skimp on flavor.

Pale silvery gold. Fresh nose of cold grapes and gooseberries, with grassy, green pepper notes. Soft and fleshy in the mouth, with lots of pear and pear skin flavors. Full for a Sauvignon Blanc, with fairly low acidity and a broad mouthfeel. Not a shy, crisp minerally Loire style. Much more New World than French-seeming. 86. Imported by Robert Kacher. I think I got this at Whole Foods on Bellaire for $12.

2006 Terredora di Paolo LACRYMA CHRISTI DEL VESUVIO ROSSO (Campania, Italy)

Teetering at the edge of old age, this wine is good but needs to be drunk immediately.

Ruby color with some amber at the rim. Right out of the bottle, the wine had a fantastic nose of smoky, rich gravel, tobacco, and rich plum juice, with a hint of eucalyptus. The mouth was not quite up to the standard set by the nose. High-toned, mature flavors of dried underbrush, iodine, and macerated red fruits. Drying finish. More austere in the mouth than the nose suggests. 90 for the nose with an 80 for the mouth. 85 overall. (Not sure where this is available, or how much it costs as it was a gift).

Two mediocre wines

These were both disappointing.

2007 Domaine Chevreau "Or Rouge" BEAUJOLAIS-VILLAGES -- From one of my favorite importers (Neal Rosenthal), strangely enough, this wine was both bitter and tart. Sour cherry and caramelized sugar flavors, and lots of green acidity. ($16 at Spec's).

2009 Domaine Castillon COSTIERES DE NIMES ROSE -- A flat, overripe rose. Loads of fruit and body, but at the expense of the acidity needed for freshness. ($7.99 per 500 ml bottle at Whole Foods on Bellaire).

Charles Krauthammer: Voters Angry At the Arrogance and Contempt of the Democrats

Charles Krauthammer offers up the examples of Democrat passage of the "Stimulus Package", Obama, Pelosi and Reid's Federally mandated "Healthcare" as fuel for the fires of voter discontent. The Democrat majority has ignored the clear messages voters were sending to Obama and Congress by electing Republicans in three Gubenatroial races and one Senate seat that had been held by Democrats since 1952.

Obama Labor Department Spokeswoman: "Republicans Hate Latinos"

Your tax dollars at work. Honorary Chairperson of the Democratic Socialists of America, Dolores Huerta was used as a spokesperson by Obama's U.S. Labor Department to promote fair wage rights for illegal aliens. In a television ad paid for with U.S. taxpayer money Huerta encourges workers who are in the country illegally to report employers to the government if they feel they are not getting a fair wage. In a recently uncovered audio Dolores Huerta extols the virtues of life under the dictatorship of Hugo Chavez. "I don't care how much money you make,...as long (as) you use it for the people like Hugo Chavez is doing in Venezuela." In the final segment of the tape, Huerta concludes her remarks before an audience of High School students with, "Republicans hate Latinos OK? Republicans hate Latinos." Outrageous and despicable doesn't even begin to describe this administration's apparent infatuation with the philosophy of Karl Marx, or the wisdom of a local school administrator in having such an reptilian individual address an assembly of impressionable high school students.
