While Senator Bill Frist works unrelentingly to destroy the filibuster and says voting nominees in should be as simple as an up or down vote, it’s interesting to note that in 2000 Frist, himself, refused to use a simple up or down vote on a Clinton nominee.
In 2000, Sen. Bill Frist participated in a filibuster to try to prevent a vote on Judge Richard Paez, nominated by President Clinton to a spot on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, according to CBS News. The effort failed, and Paez was confirmed.
